EXECUTIVE PASTOR
Type: Full-Time, Salaried, Clergy
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Equipping (25%)
Lead development and execution of strategic and long-term plans for the church, including staffing & leadership, financial & facilities, and missions & ministry planning.
Collaborate with Pastor for Preaching and Vision and other elders to develop and refine church’s vision and mission strategies; oversee the execution of strategies, including the G.O.S.P.E.L Plan.
Provide administrative, strategic, and executive leadership training and coaching to RCC church plants.
Participate in and help lead equipping and mobilization initiatives (RCC Institute, Gospel Community Leader training, etc.)
Engage in North American church planting and international missions. Regularly communicate with and occasionally visit church’s international missionaries and church planters.
Provide executive and strategic consultation to church plants and ministry partners. Participate in network and convention initiatives and organizations as appropriate.
Administrative Oversight (50%)
A) Financial Oversight
Oversee implementation of financial policies and procedures.
Oversee annual budget and capital spending plans, including tracking of actual income and expenses vs. budget.
Oversee development of the following year’s budget.
Present current year financial summary and following year’s budget to elder council, then to the church body for review and affirmation.
Oversee payroll and benefits systems and processing.
Oversee all tax obligations and arrangements, including payroll taxes and property tax exemption.
Oversee the collection, counting, tracking, and depositing of offering and other income.
Oversee bank accounts, bill payment, expense tracking, expense reimbursement, and all other accounting activities.
Oversee financial commitments and processing of payments and donations to church plants, missions agencies, and other ministries and partnerships.
B) Facilities & Property Oversight
Negotiate and oversee leases and purchases of property.
Oversee maintenance and cleaning of buildings, vehicles, and other church property, including contracts and payment for contract maintenance.
Oversee planning, management, and execution of capital projects, including facility construction, remodeling, and expansion.
Oversee facility use policies & procedures and negotiation and implementation of facility use agreements.
C) Legal, Corporate & Insurance Oversight
Oversee legal and contractual negotiations and agreements.
Oversee corporate and non-profit status.
Oversee development, review, implementation, and revision of church documents, including bylaws, policies and procedures, and philosophy of ministry.
Oversee insurance and liability commitments and claims (property, professional, etc.)
Oversee fiscal relationship with Baptist Convention of MD/DE, Southern Baptist Convention, Acts 29, Sent Network, and other ministry partnerships.
D) IT & Website Oversight
Oversee the development, maintenance, and optimization of website, church database (Planning Center), and all other IT platforms.
Oversee IT hardware and infrastructure planning, deployment, and maintenance.
E) Human Resources Oversight
Supervise administrative staff.
Perform or oversee performance and compensation reviews and adjustments for all staff.
Oversee implementation of HR policies and procedures.
F) Elder Meetings, Retreats, and Communication
Oversee scheduling, planning, and facilitation of elder council meetings. Attend all meetings unless unavailable.
Oversee scheduling, planning, and facilitation of staff elder meetings and retreats. Attend all meetings unless unavailable.
Regularly communicate with other elders via text, phone calls, and emails.
Pastoral (25%)
Fulfill elder responsibilities per the church membership covenant, bylaws, and RCC Shepherding document.
Counsel and shepherd covenant members in assigned Gospel Communities. Make hospital/crisis visits as needed.
Oversee and shepherd assigned Gospel Communities and their leaders.
Coordinate with deacons to serve and help members and others in need.
Coordinate multiplication of assigned Gospel Communities with group leader(s).
Prepare for and attend all corporate worship services and member meetings.
Preach occasionally (2-3x/year) at corporate worship.
Provide pre-marital counseling and officiate weddings/funerals as needed.
